As Director of Economics, Matthew Stewart oversees the production of the Conference Board's Canadian Outlook publication, a quarterly report on Canada's economy, the Conference Board's Fiscal Snapshot reports, a series of reports that review of the finances and budget of each province and the Canadian Long-term Economic Outlook, a bi-annual report that details the long-term outlook for the Canadian economy.
Matthew is also responsible for overseeing custom research projects on a variety of topics. Recent projects include a demand and supply model for physicians based on disease risk factors, disease incidence, prevalence, and mortality for over 250 diseases. Another recent project estimated the economic impact of a carbon tax and the cost of achieving Canada's Paris commitment. Matthew has also overseen several large international projects. Recently, he led several missions to Indonesia where he trained government officials and industry on factors that could affect and improve trade with Canada.
Matt has a M.A. (Economics) from McMaster University and a B.A. (Honours Economics) from The University of Western Ontario.
