Michael Bassett is the Director, Research Impact and Content Strategy at The Conference Board of Canada. In this role he works with researchers, communicators, economists, designers and other colleagues to weave compelling research and insights into multi-touchpoint programs that create meaning. He is a champion of evidence-based decision making and has a passion for creatively connecting audiences and content.
In over a decade of experience at the Conference Board, Michael has contributed to numerous custom and public research projects in the areas of governance, ethics, risk management, family enterprise and Crown corporations. He has chaired the Conference Board's National Risk Conference (2019) and the National Corporate Ethics and Integrity Summit (2018), and has presented his research internationally at events in Kyiv, Ukraine (2018) and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (2016).
Prior to joining the Conference Board, Michael worked at the Ottawa-based Institute on Governance. He has also worked in the international development sector and for the provincial government of British Columbia. He started his career at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington D.C.
Michael has a Master of Arts degree in Political Economy and a double honours undergraduate degree in Economics and Journalism from Carleton University. Michael received his Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) designation in May 2018.
