Brent Dowdall is a trained and experienced journalist who joined The Conference Board of Canada in 2002 as a member of the Corporate Communications team. In 2010, he became Manager of the Corporate Communications department and was promoted to Associate Director in 2012. In these roles, he maintained daily interactions with print, broadcast and online journalists from across the country, addressing their inquiries and pitching stories and articles to individual media outlets. He prepared and carried out communications plans and strategies for the Conference Board, often in partnership with other organizations, to promote the Conference Board and its research.
In 2014, Brent shifted roles into what is now the Economics division of the Conference Board. He is responsible for business development, research, communications and other functions. He organizes and manages webinars in which Conference Board economists and experts from other organizations present their research and ideas to audiences from across the country.
Since 2016, Brent has organized two roundtables and workshops on taxation in Canada, bringing together experts on different aspects of the Canadian tax system. He has organized five regional Business Outlook conferences which attracted public and private-sector leaders from across their respective regions to discuss economic outlooks and business challenges in different parts of Canada.
