Klaus is an Economist in the Industrial Economic Trends group. He is in charge of the analysis of various industries with a focus on the energy sector. Klaus also provides research on energy related topics to the national and provincial forecasting teams. In addition, he supports and provides leadership on custom research projects.
Klaus joined the Conference Board in 2014 as Economist in the Conference Board's Canadian Tourism Research Institute, where he was responsible for monitoring travel to and within Canada. Apart from producing the bi-monthly newsletter and a range of forecasting products, Klaus also conducted economic research and analysis for custom projects in the areas travel and tourism, labour economics and health economics.
Before working for the Conference Board, Klaus was an Instructor at Algonquin College, where he was teaching courses in geography and statistics in the School of Hospitality and Tourism. He completed an M.A. in economics and a Ph.D. in geography at Simon Fraser University. Klaus is from Germany, where he graduated with distinction from an M.A-equivalent program in geography, economics and statistics at Regensburg University.
