2017 Windsor-Essex Business Outlook
St. Clair College Centre for the Arts—Best Western •
The Windsor-Essex economy is enjoying a period of sustained and solid growth. The region continues to emerge from the shadows of the steep downturn between 2007 and 2009. In fact, the region’s economy expanded at its fastest rate in 16 years in 2016 and the outlook for 2017 is solid. That said, Windsor-Essex still has not fully recouped all of the jobs it lost between 2007 and 2009. We do not expect employment in the region to return to 2006 levels until next year.
Moreover, global economic uncertainty will challenge business leaders and policy-makers. Windsor-Essex is on the front line of this potential upheaval.
Get the latest and most comprehensive economic analysis in the country to navigate this uncertain business climate. In partnership with WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, The Conference Board of Canada is pleased to present the first Windsor-Essex Business Outlook.
Senior economists from one of Canada’s most respected forecasting organizations drill deep into the factors driving the outlook for the province and metropolitan region, all set within a national and international context.
This unique event includes global, national, provincial and metropolitan perspectives, including in-depth economic analysis and the opportunities for dialogue and discussion that will help regional leaders make critical decisions.
- Key regional industries, such as auto manufacturing and tourism.
- The impact of the weaker Canadian dollar and the U.S. economy on trade.
- Other key indicators, such as population, employment, and residential investment.
In addition to the Conference Board’s economic forecast for 2017 and beyond, attendees at the Windsor-Essex Business Outlook will enjoy a lively panel discussion and keynote address. This once-a-year Business Outlook promises to be the premier economic forecasting event in the province this year.
